The DI Supports Victims of the Yellowknife Wildfire
August 22, 2023
As evacuees have entered Calgary over the last few days, organizations across the city are stepping up to meet the needs of those displaced from the Yellowknife Wildfire. The DI is doing its part by providing low-barrier access to shelter beds along with free meals, clothing, and personal hygiene products to those in need.
If you’re looking for ways to help support victims of the fire, we have some suggestions for you below.
- Donate travel-size hygiene products such as soap, deodorant, shampoo, conditioner, disposable razors, toothpaste, toothbrushes, menstrual products, and chapstick.
- Diapers and infant formula are also in high demand. We will make sure they get to families who need them. Please drop off items at our Donation Centre located at 3640 11a St NE.
- Volunteer for meal service or at our Donation Centre to help get meals and personal items to those in need.To learn more and sign up, visit www.calgarydropin.ca/volunteer
Any help you can give is greatly appreciated. We thank you for being part of a community that cares about supporting vulnerable people in our community.
