Every Dollar You Donate Will be Matched and Make 2x the Impact
Imagine starting over with nothing.
No soap to wash your hands. No clean sheets to sleep on. No dishes to cook a meal. No chair to sit on after a long day. Just an empty space, quiet, bare, and uncertain.
For thousands of Calgarians moving out of homelessness, this is where their new beginning starts.
A home is more than four walls. It’s safety. Stability. Dignity.
At the Calgary Drop-In Centre, our Free Goods Program helps turn that empty space into a place of comfort and belonging. With essentials like bedding, kitchenware, clothing, hygiene items, and furniture, we help people, at zero cost, build not just a home, but a foundation for a better future.
Our award-winning program makes an impact you can stand behind:
- 3,018 households served, reaching more than 9,000 individuals
- 867,821 essential items distributed to individuals and families in need
- 208 computers provided, connecting people to opportunity, employment, and community
- 144 partner agencies across Calgary benefited
There are Three Ways to Help:
1) Make a Financial Gift
Every donation you make will be matched, dollar for dollar, by the Hope and Aspire Fund. Your donation will create and sustain homes for Calgarians exiting homelessness.
2) Donate gift-in-kind items (new or gently used)
Give new or gently used items like furniture, kitchenware, and hygiene products. View our greatest needs here.
3) Volunteer
It would be impossible to offer these programs and services without the generous support of volunteers and community partners.
Volunteer opportunities can include sorting donations, stocking the showroom, building kits, testing electronics, and applying handy-person skills.
More than a Program: A Community Hub
The Free Goods Program is also a vital backbone for the broader operations of the Calgary Drop-In Centre and the community we serve.
Through generous gift-in-kind donations, the program generates more than $2.1 million in annual operational savings, directly supporting emergency shelter operations and essential day-to-day needs such as food, clothing and linens, hygiene products, maintenance supplies, IT equipment, PPE, and administrative supplies, ensuring critical services remain strong, responsive, and available to those who need them most.
