Leave a Legacy of Compassion
Gifts in Wills
By including the Calgary Drop-In Centre in your will, you’re helping build a future where everyone has a chance to thrive, no matter their circumstances. Your gift supports people experiencing homelessness by providing shelter, support, and a path to stable housing.
The impact of a gift through your will allows the Calgary Drop-In Centre to plan for the future, ensure our voices are louder, our impact is greater, and our reach is further. Only together are we building pathways to home.

How do I make a gift in my will?
Charitable bequests, also known as legacy gifts, are a powerful way to create lasting change in your community. By including the Calgary Drop-In Centre in your will, you ensure that your values live through our shared mission to end homelessness in Calgary.
There are two meaningful ways to leave a legacy gift:
1. A Lump-Sum Gift: You can leave a specific cash amount to the DI. This gift is made separately from your residual estate and is distributed after your passing, helping us continue to provide shelter, meals, health services, and housing supports to those most in need.
2. A Percentage of Your Estate: You may also choose to leave a percentage of your residual estate which is the amount remaining after debts, taxes, and specific gifts are settled. This type of gift can grow over time, potentially resulting in a greater impact and a stronger foundation for our work toward ending homelessness.
Legacy gifts help ensure the DI can continue to walk alongside vulnerable Calgarians—not just today, but for generations to come. Your gift will provide hope, dignity, and the opportunity for a brighter future for those experiencing homelessness.
If you believe in a future where everyone has a place to call home, consider making the DI part of your legacy. Because when we build a compassionate city together, no one gets left behind.
What are the benefits?
Your legacy: A gift in your will is your legacy, letting others know what was important to you.
Reduce estate taxes: Your estate will be entitled to a donation receipt for the full value of the gift, which may dramatically reduce taxes payable by your estate.
Claim donations towards income taxes: Your estate can claim donations for income tax purposes of up to 100% of the net income in the year of death.
Changes can be made: A gift in your will is revocable and can be changed if there are changes to your financial situation
