“I Want to Come Home” – A Story of Hope and Recovery
Our new educational film, I Want to Come Home, explores the realities of homelessness and the journey toward recovery. It weaves together powerful themes – economic pressures, housing scarcity, trauma, and social supports – showing that reconnection and healing are possible, even in the toughest circumstances.
The Calgary Drop-In Centre partnered with local filmmakers, singer-songwriters, and volunteer actors to create this short film. Our goal? To raise awareness about the scope of services we provide and highlight the recovery process while recognizing that recovery and “home” looks different for everyone.
Read more about why we made this film in our blog here.
We’re grateful to local media outlets for helping amplify our message and our urgent need to raise $2 million to support those experiencing homelessness.
Why This Matters
Every day, more than 1,000 people rely on the DI for shelter, support, and hope. Without these critical programs, many would have nowhere else to turn but public spaces. This holiday season—and all year long—our mission is simple: help people end their homelessness and live healthier, housed lives.
